I completed the full-time MBA program while also working at the Wisconsin State Journal on the copy desk at night. I chose the Human Resources Management major as the most broad curriculum to meet my goal to be in an executive management position in the marketing and communications field.

Using the funds I had saved and earned through the Army's college-savings program, I completed the journalism undergraduate program with a focus on math and science. I took seven calculus and post-calculus courses and courses in physics and chemistry. The Lantern, the daily newspaper for the university, played a large part in my education. I was the first paid daily reporter for the paper.
